About Slovenia vignette online
The Slovenia vignette is a mandatory toll payment for all vehicles whose weight does not exceed 3.5 t. A digital vignette for Slovenia is a great alternative to the adhesive vignette in the form of a sticker.
To order a vignette Slovenia online, complete a form and make the payment. You will receive a vignette confirmation via email. It is recommended to save it onto a device, but no paper copy is required.
An electronic vignette to Slovenia is available in several validity options: an annual vignette, a semi-annual vignette, a monthly vignette, and a weekly e-vignette. It is possible to choose the validity start date in the application.
Control of the Slovenian vignettes is carried out via cameras on the motorway network, at control points, and using toll control vehicles. The violation of the e-vignette obligation in Slovenia will be penalized.
Drivers using Slovenian toll roads without a valid vignette are subject to a fine of 300 EUR. For travelers who unduly transfer the vehicle registration plate number, a fine of up to 500 EUR will be imposed.
Important information: The Karavanke tunnel does not require a Slovenia vignette. However, drivers entering the tunnel must separately pay a special toll at the Hrušica toll station.

Vignette road: vignette needed by all vehicles.
The Karavanke tunnel between Slovenia and Austria, the longest one in Slovenia, is excluded from the Slovenia toll collection system. Instead, it requires a special toll that must be paid separately.
Drivers of all vehicles belonging to the R1 toll-rate category, together with vehicles whose maximum permissible weight does not exceed 3.5 t, must pay the toll of 7.80 EUR. The toll payment has to be made at the Hrušica toll station via debit/credit card or cash payment.

Why are vignettes mandatory in Slovenia?
Slovenia vignette serves as a modern toll payment method. It is obligatory for all motorcycles and vehicles up to 3.5 t entering motorways and expressways in Slovenia. Tolls are paid according to the validity period, not the distance driven.
The funds received from vignettes are used to maintain Slovenian road infrastructure. Due to them, it is possible to properly build new roads and enhance the existing ones. Eventually, it improves road safety.
Exceptions to the mandatory vignette usage in Slovenia
There are some exceptions to a vignette obligation in Slovenia. Vehicles listed below do not need to have a valid vignette but must be recorded in the Slovenian toll system before entering motorways and expressways in Slovenia:
- motor vehicles with priority and escort vehicles (along with the escorted vehicles);
- Slovenian Armed Forces’ military vehicles;
- foreign military vehicles on a national defense mission, transporting international peacekeeping forces, and performing other defense and security tasks (in case it was specified by international treaties);
- transport with vehicles on humanitarian aid tasks helping those suffering in peace or war, disasters or armed conflicts;
- transport with vehicles of the toll road operator on the tasks related to the maintenance of toll roads and toll activities.
Penalties
The vignette control is conducted through cameras on the motorway network, at control points, and via toll control vehicles. Drivers who enter Slovenian motorways and expressways without a valid vignette will be penalized with a 300 EUR fine.
